New low-cost manual and motorised elevators
LG Motion’s wide range of linear and rotary positioning components includes elevator stages designed for the precise vertical alignment of optics and mechanical systems which require an unobstructed access above and around the table top. The modular A25 and A40 series elevating stages can be used as a part of complete multi-axis positioning set-ups or provide the supporting base and fine height adjustment for optical and mechanical components used in beam lines or production and test related equipment.

LG Motion has low-cost manual and motorised vertical positioning elevators
- UniSlide dovetail bearing system is adapted for fine vertical positioning in optical and mechanical alignment systems
Basingstoke UK, May 2009: LG Motion’s wide range of linear and rotary positioning components includes elevator stages designed for the precise vertical alignment of optics and mechanical systems which require an unobstructed access above and around the table top. The modular A25 and A40 series elevating stages can be used as a part of complete multi-axis positioning set-ups or provide the supporting base and fine height adjustment for optical and mechanical components used in beam lines or production and test related equipment.
The range includes manually driven and motorised versions in two frame sizes with nominal tabletop widths of 63 mm and 100 mm and vertical travel from 25 mm to 150 mm. A choice of standard or precision grade 1.0 mm pitch leadscrew drives ensure accuracy to 20µm per 100 mm of travel, with manual positioning sensitivity or motorised positioning repeatability within a few microns. The robust and durable design is based upon LG Motion’s low-cost UniSlide dovetail bearing system which provides a large contact area and maximum rigidity for direct vertical loads up to 25kg, with vibration free stability and generous cantilever load characteristics.
The smaller A25 series is available in 25 mm and 50 mm vertical travel versions for both manually driven and motorised variants. A large and easily accessible thumbwheel at the base of the unit provides manual adjustment. The motorised version requires a larger base to accommodate the NEMA 23 frame stepper motor and motor connector block; overall footprint size is 72.5 mm x 209 mm with maximum height for the 50 mm travel unit of 163 mm. As standard, the integral stepper motor includes a rear shaft extension with a handwheel fitted and servo motor driven versions, complete with position feedback encoders, are available on request.
The larger A40 elevator stage is available in a manually driven configuration for 25 mm and 50 mm of vertical travel and for motorised versions, 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm. As with the smaller stage, the motorised version requires an extra footprint area which extends to 100 mm x 336 mm; overall height for the maximum travel variant is 446 mm, and 219 mm for the 50 mm travel variant.
Both models include an array of tabletop mounting holes and the aluminium alloy housing is available in clear or black anodised finish. Vacuum rated versions are also available.
LG Motion’s standard range includes BiSlide, UniSlide and XSlide linear stages with low-cost dovetail bearings along with high precision linear stages with cross roller bearings and ball screw drives. Precision rotary stages are also available and from its Basingstoke manufacturing facility, LG Motion offer custom designed systems and a complete range of drives and motion controls.
