New Burster 8661 non contact torque sensor available from Ixthus
- Precision torque measurement sensor to 200 Nm - includes angle and rotation speed measurement options
Towcester – UK – January 2012: Ixthus Instrumentation has launched a new non-contacting precision torque sensor with optional measurement of shaft angle and speed from its distribution partner Burster, the leading German sensor manufacturer. The new 8661 series provides precise and convenient measurement of static and bi-directional rotating torques from 0...0.05 Nm to 0...200 Nm with full-scale accuracy to 0.05% for analysing breakaway, holding and tightening torques in mechanical power applications across manufacturing quality control, field service investigation and R & D. An integrally mounted optical encoder option provides additional angular position measurement to 0.09 degrees with rotational speed feedback - making the 8661 sensor an ideal test or calibration tool for precision micro-mechanics, electric motor test beds, bearing test stands or wherever combined torque and angular position characteristics need to be measured reliably and securely.
The 8661 series is available in a wide choice of torque measurement ranges and is supplied complete with integral shaft drive assemblies; or for higher speeds and higher torque use, with adapters for direct mount on the mechanical structure to be measured. The high resolution sensor features a 16-bit D/A converter and metal film strain gauges. A choice of output includes 0 to 10 VDC or USB, which is used with supplied PC software to allow users to directly read information in a dedicated GUI. The analogue output version is fully compatible with Burster and other manufacturers displays whilst the USB option is particularly useful for portable field-based measurement. A 3-LED display provides operational status information.
Angle encoder options include 1024 or 400 line quadrature encoders with TTL level output for 0.225 or 0.09 degree resolution. Torque-only versions can be used at speeds to 25000 rpm whilst encoder versions are limited to 6000 or 15000 rpm.
With a 10 – 30 VDC rated supply voltage, the 8661 has a 12-pin electrical connector and accessories include mating straight or right angled connectors and cable assemblies to suit Burster display instrumentation.
